Fueling and starting

Once you’ve chosen the right tool, you need to ensure that you choose the right fuel and oil and handle it in the correct way. In this section, you will find information on which fuels can be used to re-power, how to refill, and tips for the starting procedure.

Fuel and oil

To achieve the very best results and performance, we recommend using Husqvarna pre-mixed alkylate fuel XP® Power 2. This is a fuel that contains fewer harmful substances, compared to regular fuel, and it reduces harmful exhaust fumes.
Another choice is to mix fuel with Husqvarna two-stroke engine oil, which has been specially formulated for our air-cooled two-stroke engines.
The mixing ratio is 1:50 (2%).

Re-Power fuels

Husqvarna Re-Power 2-stroke and 4-stroke alkylate fuels provide a cleaner combustion inside 2- and 4-stroke engines, compared to regular petrol. With re-power, part of the CO2 emissions instead comes from renewable raw material, which reduces the carbon footprint compared to regular alkylate fuel.

Fuel handling

Always stop the engine and let it cool for a few minutes before you refuel. Always use a fuel container with an anti-spill valve.

  • Clean the area around the fuel cap before fuelling. Contamination in the tank can cause operating problems.

Starting a cold engine with manual choke

  • The crucial part in starting a cold engine is to avoid flooding. Therefore, make sure you deactivate the choke lever after first ignition.
